Oracle Database 23ai introduced some very powerful AI-driven capabilities designed to simplify data management. One standout feature is Select AI, which enables users to query data using natural language making data access more intuitive and user friendly.
To evaluate this feature, I chose Oracle Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (P6 EPPM) - a robust and user-friendly solution for planning, managing, and executing projects, programs, and portfolios.
For this evaluation, I created setup in-house using the below components:
- Oracle Database 23ai Free Edition
- DBMS_CLOUD API to enable integration with LLM like Cohere.
- Oracle APEX 24.2 - A low-code UI for users to input prompts and view results
- Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM 24.12 with sample data
- Cohere AI as the LLM to interpret natural language prompt.
Oracle’s Select AI utilizes LLMs to convert natural language prompts into SQL statements. When combined with Cohere AI and Oracle APEX, it creates a seamless, intuitive interface for querying Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM data. This empowers project managers, planners and other stake holders to gain insights without the need to know SQL - bridging the gap between technical complexity and user accessibility.
The integration of Oracle Select AI with Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM will make project data more accessible. By enabling natural language queries, it will remove the barrier of SQL proficiency and open up powerful data insights to a broader range of users.
As AI continues to evolve, tools like Select AI will play a crucial role in democratizing data access and enhancing productivity across industries.
